With up to 34 males following an estrous female from a distance of 500 meters, the dominance hierarchy among mating partners is evident. During copulation, which typically lasts less than 30 seconds and involves dorsally mounting the female partner, ejaculation leads to the formation of a white plug, evidence that females will mate with multiple males in succession before entering estrus five days later.
